How to Mix Pep
STEP 1 - Pour half the water into your Pep Pep pouch, water bottle, soft flask or other
STEP 2 - Scoop Pep Powder in and top off with water
STEP 3 - Shake it up and go
- For DRINK consistency, add 1 scoop Powder to 8oz water or as desired.
- For GEL consistency, simply concentrate it more for desired consistency. Personally for Race products, we like 1 Scoop Powder to 0.5 Scoop Water.
I’ve noticed major improvements to my running and bicycling during races and training days. Pep gives me that energy I need! I like the lighter flavor of lemon lime and it’s great to add Pep’s sodium to my mixes to tailor the nutrition to my specific needs.
The Raspberry race powder is my favorite! It works great in a water bottle for longer rides and in the pep pouch. I love the flavor. I haven’t made it as a carefully measured gel yet, but have found that I like things less viscous.
I've been using Pep for a couple months now, and I'm really happy with the results. It delivers steady energy and is easy on the gut, whether I'm going for a long trail run or doing hard hill repeats. The biggest appeal is the whole-foods ingredients: I love that I can feel good about what I'm putting in my body. (After all, there's more to health than just athletic performance!) On top of that, the reusable packaging is so much more sustainable than the gel packets I used to use. Compared to other high-carb products like Maurten, it's a good deal, too. Between performance, health, sustainability, and cost, Pep is an ideal fit for my endurance lifestyle.
I’ve been really enjoying my bag of the Lemon Lime Race powder. By volume, it has the exact same amount of calories and carbs as other powders I’ve used while using clean ingredients I trust (and can pronounce!). I’ll be honest, I was a bit skeptical about the taste at first as it has a richer flavor than I was used to but it was very digestible and I enjoyed the flavor once I got on the trail. I’ve used it as a drink but I tend to prefer making a gel with it using the Pep Pouches!
I like how it's so customizable. Being able to add caffeine is something I really like. Taste is good. I used the reusable squeeze baggies originally, but found them to be hard to clean & keep up with. I mix the powder in a half liter bottle, and slam that when I need an energy boost. As long as it's before midday I add caffeine to it as well. I feel like the energy/calorie boost is pretty long lasting. I like the texture of the product as well, it feels like real food but still goes down really easy. It's different than a gel.
